CEO - Dr. Gopakumar G. Nair
Dr. Gopakumar G. Nair is a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry with specialization in NMR from NCL (National Chemical Laboratory), Pune, India. He had his post-doctoral stint in IIT, Powai, Mumbai. He had also taken a management diploma from Bajaj Institute, Mumbai. Dr. Nair is associated with the Pharmaceutical Industry for over 40 years in various capacities. He was till recently the Hon. Chairman of BDH Industries Ltd. (formerly Bombay Drug House) and earlier he served BDH as Executive Director for nearly 3 decades. Dr. Nair is a Registered Patent as well as a Trademark Agent. He practices all forms of Intellectual Properties under the aegis of GNAs (Gopakumar Nair Associates), which operates from both Mumbai and Chennai. He has been a speaker in various forums on IPR and has a number of patent-related articles to his credit.
Director - Dr. Kausalya Santhanam
Kausalya Santhanam is a registered patent agent in the USPTO and has a Ph.D in cell biology and Immunology. After eight years of research experience in India and the US, she joined the Intellectual Property Department with CuraGen Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company at Connecticut, USA. She has been handling various patent related issues including drafting and prosecuting US, EPO, AU and CA applications and designing patent strategies. Dr. Santhanam has attended as well as been a speaker at various patent-related workshops and training programs.Having made India as her home since June 2004, she continues to work as an IP consultant to Biotechnology and Biopharmaceutical Corporates both in India and the US.
Advt. Feroz Ali Khader
Advt. Feroz Ali Khader is a practising advocate at the Madras High Court and an active commentator on patent law in India often writing articles in the Hindu Business Line and also conducting workshops and delivering lectures on patent law. He has been involved in the Novartis litigation at the Madras HC. Over the years he has expanded his field of practice to include arguing in opposition proceedings being conducted by the Patent Office.
Mr. Srikant N Sharma
Mr. Sharma is a Law graduate and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. His corporate experience of 18+ years is mainly with the pharmaceutical industry. He is mainly involved in the area of corporate and business laws, Intellectual Property Rights and statutory compliance. He is presently associated with DIL Limited and its group companies as a Corporate Secretary and Head of Legal.
Mr. Sanjay Kher
Mr. Kher is a member of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, and specializes in intellectual property laws. He also holds qualifications in Management studies. Mr. Kher is an IPR Consultant with an international management consultancy group. A keen academician, Mr. Kher is also a Speaker and faculty member at the Dept. of Clinical Pharmacology, KEM Hospital and Nair Hospital, Dept. of Microbiology, Ruia College, NITIE,VJTI, IIT Mumbai programme on Institutional Intellectual Property Management.Presently, Mr. Kher is associated with various Institutes and Organizations in the capacity of an office bearer or a visiting faculty.
Dr. Eshwaran Iyer
Dr. Iyer holds a doctorate in Pharmacy and an LL.B from the University of Mumbai. In addition he also holds a Diploma in Marketing Management. Commencing his career in R&D, Regulatory Affairs and manufacturing he has been serving with leading pharmaceutical organizations like Cipla, Orchid and Sekhsaria for about 8 years. He has been specializing in the IP field for the past 5 years and served Wockhardt Limited as Senior Group Leader IP at the Corporate level. He has experience in the IP areas of strategic product planning, patent related activities like prosecution, maintenance, oppositions, litigation (US and Indian), infringement analysis, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, licensing and technology evaluation. Currently he heads the IP department at Ajanta Pharma Limited.
Mrs. Chandrashekhar Usha A
She is a practicing attorney with special emphasis on Trademarks, Patents,Copyrights and Designs and related matters, which include procedural matters related to IP. Drafting of patent specifications, IP management,etc. She has done her Masters in Applied Biology (Cytogenesis) from the Mumbai University during which period she was also awarded the Sir James Ewing Scholarship. She did her internship at the Cancer Research Institute at Mumbai, where she also had a couple of published papers to her credit. She has also done her L.L.B. from the Government Law College with Trademark and Patents as optional subjects. For 3 years she trained and worked in the IP department of Crawford Bayley and Co. Mumbai. Later she moved ahead to take charge of the legal department of a group company in Mumbai before moving on to set up her own legal practice. As a student of the SEAD course conducted by Le Federation de Internationale Counsiels pour Propertie Industrielle, she has acquired special training in patent specification drafting.An active member of the Neem Foundation, she has presented and published several papers on the issue of protection of plant varieties and traditional knowledge. As a member of the IPLPA, she has been on the review committee for the bill on Bio-diversity and Plant Varieties.
Dr. M.D. Nair
Dr. M.D. Nair has a Ph.D. Degree from the University of Illinois, USA.He was a Fulbright Scholar, a Fellow of the National Research Council of Ottawa, Canada, Alfred P. Sloan Research Foundation, New York and Research Associate at University of Illinois before joining the Pharmaceutical Research Group of CIBA Limited, Switzerland., and later of Ciba-Geigy Research Centre in Bombay. He worked extensively on New Drug Development,Patents, Documentation and Information Systems and Planning & Control of Production, Marketing and Clinical Trials. He has had management education in INSEAD, Fontainbleu, Paris and Management Consultancy Institute in Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Nair, who was later, Vice President of SPIC.He has been a Consultant to WHO for setting up Pharmaceutical Projects in Arab countries and on Traditional Medicines in New Delhi, Bangkok and Jakarta. He has been an Advisor to Government and Private Organisations on Science & Technology, Board of many Pharmaceutical Companies,Governing Councils of various Academic Bodies, Universities & Medical Institutes , Panels of CSIR, ICMR, AICTE, Export Promotion Council of India, Indira Gandhi Open University etc. Presently Dr. Nair is acclaimed as an expert in IP and Patents.
Mr. Adarsh Chandra Nigam
Mr. Nigam is a management graduate with 10+ years of experience in the healthcare industry. He has worked in the area of marketing, product management, training & development, and knowledge management. Having been closely associated with corporate strategy formulation, development of business plans & implementation, he is currently associated with Vans Information Limited as Vice President.He is also associated with a few management & IP institutes as a visiting faculty.
Mr. Amarjit Singh
Mr. Amarjit Singh has a Masters in Political Science and a Law Degree. Currently, Mr. Singh is the Senior Partner with Amarjit Associates handling all aspects relating to protection, enforcement, mediation and arbitration with reference to Intellectual Property. In the last three decades,Mr. Singh has handled over 3000 cases as an arguing counsel in different courts/tribunals for the Enforcement of Trade Mark, Copyright, Industrial Designs and Patent Rights. Mr. Singh is associated with a number of professional and civic associations. He is a regular speaker in Seminars,Conferences, Workshops organized by Government of India, Universities,Trade Associations and Chambers of Commerce.
Mr. Makarand Waikar
Mr. Makarand Waikar has studied chemical engineering from IIT Kharagpur and postgraduate qualifications in management studies from Bajaj Institute in Mumbai. He has been working in scientific & patent information field since 1992. Mr. Waikar has received advanced training in Germany and USA in patents, chemistry, bio-sequences etc. searching. His company represents of Chemical Abstracts Service,Columbus, USA in India. He has conducted over 500 seminars in teaching concepts and skills of patent searching to numerous R&D set up and educational institutes in India.
Dr.Kishan Singh Kardam
Dr.Kishan Singh Kardam is the Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs, Delhi. He has done his Ph.D. in Intellectual Property Law from Delhi University, Delhi. He has 25 years of experience in patent field and has dealt with various issues in the field of patenting, particularly in the examination of applications filed in the field of Chemistry including pharmaceutical sector. He has worked as Examiner of Patents & Designs and was also heading Patent Office, Delhi for last six years. He has also widely travelled in many countries and has been trained in their IPR system. He also has many Publication of papers to his credit for eg. "Patenting in the Emerging fields of Technology " Journal of Intellectual Property Rights. He has delievered about 50 lectures in various national seminars/workshops organized by Patent Office, Government Non-Government Organizations/Institutions/Universities/ Govt. Depts., R & D Dept. Industries and WIPO on various issues of patenting including PCT, etc.
